Bowie 2 at New Britain 1
Record: 31-25
W: J. Miller (2-3, 3.00); L: T. Lahey (5-1, 3.41)
HR: BOW: L. Jimenez (4).
From rockcats.com: Bowie’s Val Majewski scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth to give the Bay Sox a 2-1 victory over New Britain.
Majewski walked with one out in the ninth, advanced to third on Luis Jimenez’ single, and came around to score on Eli Whiteside’s sac fly to right field for the game winning run. The Rock Cats rallied in the bottom of the inning, with a leadoff single by Brian Buscher. Brock Peterson struck out before Garrett Guzman (2-for-4) delivered another single. David Winfree was then sent down on strikes to send Luke Hughes, who has been one of the hottest Rock Cats hitters of late, to the plate. Hughes popped up to shallow right field to end the game.
Jimenez, a former Rock Cat, hit a solo home run off New Britain starter Jesse Floyd in the fifth inning to put Bowie ahead 1-0.
New Britain tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Hughes reached base on a single, but was forced out at second base on Kyle Geiger’s ground out. Geiger (2-for-4) was able to advance to second, though, when Bowie second baseman Paco Figueroa misfired his throw to first base on an attempt to complete a double play. Brandon Roberts then knocked in Geiger with a single to center field.
Floyd scattered six hits and allowed one run through six innings. He struck out six. Tim Lahey (5-1) pitched three solid innings in relief with two hits and one run, but took the loss.
Bowie starter Rosman Garcia tossed five solid innings with one unearned run on four hits. James Miller (2-3) picked up the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.

An interesting bit in the Hartford paper what is only related in terms of the Twins past relationships with a certain agent:
Harvey has been advised by agent Scott Boras and is likely to hire Boras should he choose to pursue a professional career instead of attending North Carolina. Speculation is that Harvey's affiliation with Boras, who has been known to drive up signing bonuses by using college as an option, negatively impacted his draft status.
"We didn't know what the signability [of Harvey]was because of that," Florida Marlins scouting supervisor Steve Payne said of the Harvey-Boras connection. "And we can't take that chance. ... Some [agents] are more difficult to deal with because we believe they over-evaluate the value of their clients." Just Say `Boras,' Draft Stock Drops

Vero Beach 2 at Fort Myers 8
Record 27 - 34
W: J. Hill (3-2, 2.92); L: M. Walker (1-6, 6.08)
HR: None.
Wednesday - Zack Ward - 4 hits. And 2 came after Penny got off the mound, so 2 hits.
Thursday - Jay Rainville - 5 hits. Although only 3 while Rainy was on the mound.
Friday - Yohan Pino - 4 hits. 2+3+4=9 hits, three different starters, three days.
Shaggy Hill? These boys love them some Shaggy Hill as the Miracle exploded for 8 hits and 8 walks to give Hiller some little needed run support.
Hill pitched a shut out through six innings, allowing only 3 hits, and walking 1 while striking out 4. It wasn't until the top of the seventh that he found himself in trouble, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits before he was lifted in favor of Alex Smit.
Luis Ugueto took a walk in the first inning with 2 outs, and moved to second on an Erik Lis single. A wild pitch by the Devil Rays Matthew Walker moved him to third. Eddie Ovalle walked to load the bases, and Dwayne White brought Ugueto home on a ground ball to second to start the scoring for the Fort Myers Squad.
Juan Portes plated Toby Gardenhire in the second. Then the Miracle turned up the heat on Devil Rays defense, which looked over worked through the first two innings.
Ovalle walked, and moved over to third on White's single to right field in the bottom of the third inning. Javi Sanchez walked to load the bases. Toby Gardenhire drew a walk to bring in Ovalle, and Tolley walked in White. Juan Portes triple cleared the bases and even through Juan was out at home, the other 3 runs stood, giving the Miracle a 7-0 lead at the top of the fourth.
Whit Robbins came home on Portes ground out in the fifth to finish off the offensive work for the Miracle, who wouldn't even take a walk to support poor Alex.
Smity allowed 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1 in 2.1 innings worth of work, but struggled a bit, running his counts.
Another interesting stat - going into this week, the Miracle had avaraged 3.15 walks per game. They average 6.25 walks per game during this home stand. Is Vero Beach pitching that bad? Did Joe's visit help? Does Slice urge them to more patience at the plate than Bolesy does?
I do know that after watching 4 games of Vero Beach fall all over themselves in the field, I'm going to have to bite my tongue when the Miracle do their Bad News Bears routine, because it's never been quite as bad as some of the fielding moves the Devil Rays pulled.
The Miracle now hit the road for three games as they journey to Clearwater to take on the Threshers. Oswaldo Sosa (2-3, 2.61) will take to the mound for the Miracle, and will hope that Fort Myers can continue their offensive onslaught for him, instead of falling prey to Josh Outman (5-3, 2.94)

Notes: I was told when I got to the stadium that there's a picture going around of Jeff, the bat boy, sound alseep in the second inning. I took that picture and I do have to say that while he certainly looks very relaxed in it, he is NOT sleeping. He was in fact, wide awake and actually moved shortly after I shot it.
You should never listen to stadium rumors. We make them up just to keep the games fun and exciting.
Have you hugged your bat boy today?

Benson went 4-for-4 on the night and Wilson Ramos continued to hit well for the Snappers, adding his seventh RBI of the season.
