McDonald done, Hughes Promoted

Rochester Red Wings The Rochester Red Wings are reporting that outfielder Darnell McDonald is out for the season with a broken left hand. He suffered the injury when hit by a pitch in Wednesday’s 8-3 win in Pawtucket. He was hitting .268 with 11 HRs, 57 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 93 games.

Third baseman Luke Hughes was promoted from New Britain of the Double-A Eastern League to take McDonald’s roster spot. In 70 games at New Britain, Hughes has hit .319 with a team-leading 15 HRs and 40 RBI.

There hasn't been an announcement of a corresponding roster move from New Britain yet.

Twins outfielder Michael Cuddyer took his first swings on the field in nearly five weeks on Wednesday afternoon, but he said that there still is no timetable for him to be sent on a Minor League rehabilitation assignment. Cuddyer has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 28 with a strained tendon in his left index finger.

On a side note, Brian Kirwan was at the last Miracle home game, sitting in the stands, so I optimistically pulled the cards for the injured players that I need signed. Never know who might show up next around here. The number of players sitting out right now is staggering.
