Toledo 5 at Rochester 6

Record 16-9

W: S. Baker (3-1, 2.70); L: R. Chiavacci (1-3, 4.46); SV: B. Korecky (7)
HR: TOL: T. Perez (6). ROC: M. LeCroy (1).

E: Santiago (4, fielding), Graham (1, throw).

From redwingsbaseball.com: Wings pitcher Scott Baker pitched six and 2/3 innings, leading the Red Wings to a 6-5 win over the Toledo Mud Hens Tuesday in an Education Day afternoon matinee at Frontier Field. Jose Morales and Tommy Watkins each had two hits and Denard Span stole two bases to lead the Wings' offense

Second baseman Jack Hannahan gave the Hens an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when he hit a double down the left field line to drive in left fielder Ryan Raburn, who led the inning off with a double.

Matthew LeCroy tied the score in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run to left field, his first of the season. In the fourth inning Hannahan recorded his second hit of the game but was thrown out by LeCroy on his way to second base.

In the fifth inning the Wings scored four runs with three of them being unearned. Watkins led off with a single, followed by a single by Doug Deeds on a hit-and-run situation that sent Watkins to third base. Matt Tolbert then scored Watkins on an error by Toledo shortstop Ramon Santiago. Span then reached base on a sacrifice bunt that was misplayed by Toledo catcher Andrew Graham, driving in Deeds to make it 3-1. After Span stole third Alexi Casilla hit an RBI sacrifice fly, and Lew Ford capped off the inning with an RBI groundout to give the Wings a 5-1 lead.

The Hens responded in the sixth when Timo Perez hit a two-run homer to right field to cut the lead to 5-3. Hens starter Ron Chiavacci (1-3) pitched well but did not get enough support from his defense to get a win, pitching six innings and giving up two runs on six hits while striking out six. Jeremy Johnson pitched in the seventh for the Hens and walked Tolbert to set up Ford's run-scoring double, his second RBI on the day.

Baker (3-1) pitched six and 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out four.

Toledo threatened in the ninth, scoring a pair of runs to make it 6-5. Bobby Korecky gave up two runs on an RBI double by Raburn and an RBI groundout by third baseman Mike Hessman. Right fielder Henry Mateo flew out to right to end the game and give Korecky his 7th save of the season.

NOTES: 1B/DH Ken Harvey pinch-hit for the Wings in the eighth, his first appearance since coming off the DL to start the season. Harvey drilled the ball to left field, and had a base hit taken away by a nice grab by Raburn...Tuesday's 11:05 am start was the Red Wings' 10th annual Education Day at Frontier Field. The Red Wings now have a 4-6 record on Education Day, winning three of their last four on Education Day....One of the most bizarre games in Red Wings history was played at 11:05 am on April 29, 2004 at Frontier Field (a "Careers in Sports" Day). LHP Carlos Pulido, the Wings' top winner in 2003, made his Rochester season debut in that game after getting optioned from Minnesota. The start didn't’t go well. Pulido allowed three home runs and nine runs overall in just 0.2 of an inning as Buffalo jumped out to a 9-0 lead before the Red Wings had even come up. Buffalo then tacked on five more in the 2nd inning to take a 14-0 lead. When the dust settled on a wind swept day at Frontier Field, Rochester had been defeated 25-13 in a game that featured 42 hits (25 by Buffalo) and six home runs (five by Buffalo). The game set a record (still true today) for most runs in a game at Frontier Field.

Fort Myers 6 at St. Lucie 2

Record 12 - 20

W: R. Mullins (1-2, 2.62); L: R. Valdes (0-1, 5.06)
HR: FTM: D. White (1).

E: Ugueto (1, throw).

From miraclebaseball.com: Fort Myers Miracle third baseman Juan Portes stole the show on Tuesday night going 4-for-5 at the plate and turning in the best defensive play of the night with an unassisted double play, leading the Miracle to a 6-2 win over the St. Lucie Mets at Tradition Field. The Miracle pounded out a season-high 12 hits picking up a split in the four-game series.

The Miracle would put half of their six runs on the board in the first inning and never look back. Steve Tolleson led off with a single, followed by Erik Lis reaching on a walk, and Whit Robbins granted first after being plunked on the back. It was then Portes who lined a single to right-center plating Tolleson and Lis giving the Miracle a 2-0 lead.

Eli Tintor would follow suit with a sacrifice fly to center bringing in Robbins from third.

St. Lucie would cut it to a 3-1 lead in the third as Dustin Martin laid down a bunt, move to second on a wild pitch and later scored on Dan Murphy’s single to right. The contest would remain 3-1 until the Miracle sixth.

Dwayne White led off the sixth frame with his first blast of the season, a solo shot to right giving the Miracle a three-run cushion. Luis Ugueto, just added to the Miracle roster Tuesday afternoon, would make a good impression on his teammates with a single to right scoring Caleb Moore and sending the Miracle advantage to 5-1.

The Mets would inch closer with a bases-loaded walk by Jamar Hill in the home-half of the sixth cutting the deficit to four, but White would score Portes in the Miracle seventh on a fielder’s choice sending the Miracle back to a four-run lead.

White and Moore would finish the night each with a pair of hits while the Miracle pitching staff, anchored by starter Ryan Mullins, would hold the St. Lucie bats in check to pick up their second-straight win.

The Miracle will now shift venues to Space Coast Stadium beginning a four-game series Wednesday night against the Brevard County Manatees. RHP Oswaldo Sosa (0-2, 4.50) will get the nod opposite RHP William Inman (2-2, 1.51) for the Manatees.
