HR: SWB: A. Chavez (2). ROC: G. Jones (9), D. Deeds (4), G. Williams (3).

From redwingsbaseball.com: The Wings used the long ball to their advantage and Brian Duensing had another quality start, going six 2/3 innings and giving up two runs while striking out nine to lead Rochester to a 7-2 victory over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday night at Frontier Field. Glenn Williams had a two-run home run and Garrett Jones and Doug Deeds each had solo blasts.

The Wings got their offense going in the second inning when Tommy Watkins hit a sharp single past third baseman Chris Basak, advancing Williams--who reached first on an error-- to second base. Two batters later Korey Feiner was hit by a pitch to load the bases. After Denard Span's force out at home plate, Alexi Casilla put Rochester ahead with a two-out, three-run double down the right field line to give the Wings an early 3-0 lead.

In the third inning the Yankees responded. After striking out Basak, Duensing (2-0) walked the next two batters and gave up an RBI single to Alberto Gonzalez to make it 3-1. Sardhina followed with a strikeout, then Andy Phillips hit a single up the middle. As Raul Chavez rounded third base trying to score on the play, Gonzalez was thrown out at third by center fielder Denard Span before Chavez scored to end the inning.

The Wings came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Jones extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single that got things started, and Glenn Williams followed with a two-run blast to right field to give the Wings a 5-1 lead. Rochester had another opportunity after Trent Oeltjen stole second then reached third on an error, but Feiner grounded out to short to end the threat.

Scranton bounced back with a solo home run by Angel Chavez to trim their deficit to 5-2 in the fifth inning. But Rochester responded again in the bottom half with a solo shot by Jones to give them a 6-2 lead.

Ricky Barrett relieved Duensing with two outs in the seventh and forced Raul Chavez to pop out to second. He pitched the rest of the game, giving up no runs on two hits and striking out four.

The Wings added another solo home run in the seventh inning when Deeds hit a 1-1 pitch off reliever Justin Pope over the right field wall, extending his hitting streak to eight games and giving them a 7-2 lead.

Steven Jackson took the loss for Scranton after pitching five innings and giving up three runs on eight hits.

HR: FTM: E. Lis (4).

E: Ugueto (7, fielding), Gardenhire (6, fielding), Portes (7, throw).

From miraclebaseball.com: Despite allowing 15 hits and a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Fort Myers Miracle were able to hold off the Jupiter Hammerheads for a wild 3-2 win on Monday night. The Miracle snapped their three-game losing streak while ending the Hammerheads win streak at three. Jupiter left 13 runners on base in the loss, the most stranded by a Miracle opponent this season, and is the third-straight 3-2 contest played by both teams.

The wild ninth inning would begin with back-to-back singles from Lorenzo Scott and Kris Harvey that brought the tying run to the plate. Gaby Sanchez sent a rope to Juan Portes at third, who stepped on the bag and threw to first for a double play, the third of the night hit into by Jupiter.

Andrew Jenkins followed with a RBI-double to left, ending the shutout, before pinch-hitter Colin Roberson’s single to right the brought the Hammerheads to within one. Jonathan Fulton would then line out to deep right allowing the Miracle to hold on for the win.

The first of the three Miracle runs would come across in the second as Matt Betsill’s groundout to first plated Dwayne White with the early run. Toby Gardenhire would reach on a fielding error by Fulton at third leading off the fifth, later scoring on a Luis Ugueto sacrifice fly giving the Miracle a two-run lead.

The eventual game-winning run for the Miracle would come off the bat of Erik Lis who crushed a monstrous solo-HR to right, his fourth of the year, giving the Miracle what looked like a commanding 3-0 lead, heading into the Jupiter ninth.

In the six innings Jupiter registered hits on Monday night, all of them would turn out to be multi-hit frames with four hits coming in the ninth inning alone.

The 25th one-run game for the Miracle saw Josh Hill pick up his second-straight win tossing five innings, allowing nine hits while striking out four. Armando Gabino worked around Fulton’s RBI-single in the ninth to pick up his first Florida State League save.

The finale of the four-game series will take place at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday night. RHP Oswaldo Sosa (2-3, 2.54) gets the start for the Miracle opposite LHP Aaron Thompson (2-4, 3.55) for the Hammerheads.
