From rockcats.com: Tonight's Rock Cats game with the Defenders from Norwich has been postponed due to inclement weather. The make-up date will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the July 23 game may be exchanged for any remaining 2007 regular season home game, pending availability.

Many good seats remain for upcoming home games at New Britain Stadium. To exchange tickets for the July 23 rainout, fans should visit the Stadium Box Office between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday-Friday or between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Saturdays.

(Notice how they are the Defenders, from Norwhich and not the Connecticut Defenders? I guess they are still hissed off at the name change.)

Fort Myers 4 at Lakeland 1

Record 16 - 16

W: J. Manship (5-1, 2.61); L: L. French (5-8, 3.65); SV: A. Gabino (4)
HR: None.

After a rain delay that pushed the start of the game back two hours, Juan Portes went 3-for-4 at the plate and Erik Lis drove in 2 runs to lead the Fort Myers Miracle to a slightly soggy 4-1 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Jeff Manship struck out 12 over 7 innings. The lone Tigers run came in the second inning when Michael Hernandez singled his way onto the bag and was moved to 2nd by a Justin "Hey, are you related to David?" Justice fly to right flied. Daniel Worth walked to load the bags. With no outs, Mark Haske was induced to hit into a double play, the Miracle could not turn it fast enough, taking out Worth at second but allowing Haske to reach first and Hernandez to score. Manship took the next two batters out on strikes to end the inning.

The Miracle got on board in the first inning when Steve Tolleson walked, moved to 3rd on Portes' double and came home on a Lis ground out.

They took the lead back at the top of the 3rd with Brian Dinkelman walking his way onto base, then moving on a pair of singles by Tolleson and Portes. A sac-fly by Lis would see him across the plate.

Catcher Jeff Christy and Dinkelman both singled in the 5th. Christy came home when Tolleson reached on a fielding error by Tigers first baeman Rafael Mendez. Dinkelman would be plated by a Portes single.

Armando Gabino picked up his 4th save of the season, striking out 2 in 2 innings. Lucas French suffered the loss for the Tigers, giving up all 4 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out only Dwayne White in the 2nd inning.

Kyle Waldrop (4-2, 2.86) will make the first start since his demotion Tuesday night, taking on Tigers ace Burke Badenhop (9-5, 3.17) in a game scheduled to start a 7.

The win puts the Miracle at the .500 mark, still in 5th place in the division, 6 games behind the Tampa Yankees.

Great Lakes 6 at Beloit 7 (10 innings)

Record 17-12

W: A. Slama (1-0, 2.84); L: T. Melgarejo (4-6, 6.47)
HR: GLL: F. Lizarraga (4).

E: Ortiz (22, fielding).

From snappersbaseball.com: After dropping game two of a four game set Sunday afternoon to the Great Lakes Loons, the Snappers came from behind to grab a win Monday Night at Pohlman Field, 7-6 in 10 innings.

The Snappers jumped to a quick 1-0 lead on a Wilson Ramos RBI single in the first inning. The Loons would answer in the fifth, touching up Beloit starter Brian Kirwan for five runs. Loons’ shortstop Francisco Lizarraga knocked a first pitch fastball out of the park. Several Snapper miscues led to four more runs for Great Lakes.

The lead would not last, though, as the Snapper bats came alive in the sixth inning. Five different Snappers had RBI hits for Beloit, as they secured a narrow 6-5 lead heading to the seventh.

The Loons would not go quietly, however, tying the game at six in their half of the eight. After reaching on a Yancarlos Ortiz error, Francisco Lizarraga scored on a Matt Berezay triple. Neither team was able to score in the ninth as the game stretched into extra innings.

Snappy would have the last laugh, though, as Anthony Slama pitched two and a third strong innings in relief. In the last of the tenth, Chris Parmelee scored from third on a Steve Singleton sacrifice fly. Slama’s effort earned him the victory, his first of the season, and pushed the Snappers’ second half record to 17-12. Chris Parmelee tallied three hits while Singleton drove in a pair for the Snappers.

Beloit wraps up the four game series against Great Lakes Tuesday at noon at Pohlman Field.
